Postcards: Babymoon in Charleston
With my due date looming, (just 9 days away!!) I thought I’d quickly share our little babymoon we took a few months ago. Since we only had 4 days and I didn't want to be stuck on a plane for too long (starting to feel claustrophobic in my own body) Charleston, South Carolina was the perfect choice. It had been on our radar for a while especially after visiting Savannah and you can be there in less than 2 hours from NYC! The food was amazing and there were so many beautiful spots Dom and I got to enjoy, it was the perfect getaway.
We walked around south of broad street,
toured both the Magnolia Plantation as well as Middleton Place (no alligator sightings unfortunately),
ate amazing food and relaxed in the hotel and at the spa.
I'll leave you with a list of some of our favorites from the trip:
The Dewberry, a beautifully remodeled midcentury hotel with an exceptional spa (they have the maternity pillow which allows you to lay on your stomach for massages, highly recommend).
Calhoun Mansion, for a house tour with original lighting installed and designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany and maybe a Rembrandt or Picasso painting from the owner's personal collection hanging on the wall.
South of Broad, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Charleston with residences dating back to 1721 - best explored on foot.
Chez Nous (menu pictured above) for a romantic date night.
Leon's Oyster Bar (oysters, hush puppies and kale salad pictured above) for a fun laid back lunch and a Southern Charm celebrity sighting or two - saw Patricia and her butler, Dom was not impressed
The Daily for all your breakfast and juice needs - went here twice! the morning glory juice was the best (orange, pineapple, lavender and honey) also the granola is worth bringing back home
F.I.G. for out of this world seafood stew - need to make reservations at least 30 days in advance
Until next time Charleston!
