Postcards: Our Maine stay
It’s been awhile since my last post but I have an excuse, I swear! I have had my hands full working hard on a rebrand for a client, several custom wedding invitation suites AND we got a puppy back in April, a mini schnauzer named Scout. It’s been a whirlwind of a summer and I’m just now finding time to sit down and reflect.
Maine was the perfect place to unplug, put in some quality bonding time with Scout and take time off before I started all my projects for the summer. We stopped in Portland first, for some oysters and beer, did some shopping and then we were on our way! We picked up seafood from the local fish market and some of the best goat cheese. We cooked, hiked and drank negronis and champagne every night. We cooked everything from crab cakes to Finnan haddie to lobster rolls that were best enjoyed at midnight (no judgement, we were on vacation).
For our long weekend, we stayed in a little cottage on a remote island and loved it until we turned the lights out. Every night I could hear gnawing on the woodwork below. Couldn’t be too sure what it was but we were warned about the raccoons in the area and had to abide by strict rules for emptying the trash. And every night I said it was the last straw and decided we’d go find a hotel in the morning. But nonetheless I stuck it out, with lots of assurances from my husband that neither I nor Scout were going to be murdered in the middle of the night by a rodent.
