Eryc + Eric's Rustic Wedding in Upstate New York

Eryc and Eric met on OKCupid despite only living ten minutes from one another in the same neighborhood in Brooklyn. What sealed the deal on their first date at Milk and Roses was Eryc claiming (after 2 shots of whiskey) if they have children they will have to learn French and, theoretically, he will have to as well. Eryc has yet to learn French, maybe on their Tahitian honeymoon he’ll start, but they’ve been inseparable since!

I pulled a lot of my inspiration from the venue for the wedding, Handsome Hollow. Nestled in the Catskills in upstate New York, the barn is surrounded by extremely tall and lush evergreens. There’s a great sunset photo of the landscape in the bottom left corner of my mood board. I don’t know how anyone could not fall in love with this place after seeing that.

From the Groom:
Regarding the invitation process, you have such an amazing aesthetic. I loved knowing and trusting in your abilities to deliver modern/classic designs. I had already seen your designs, but once I saw the mood board for our suite I knew you were going to hit the invites out of the park. We got so much feedback from our guests on the quality and style of the suite and they really set the tone for what would become a really amazing and memorable weekend. The synergy between your designs and the actual event was seamless and the perfect compliment.

I loved that you thought about 3 separate suites to pitch and once we chose one, the execution from electronic file to paper was seamless and you offered your professional advice to questions we had, but ultimately the suite was a perfect reflection of who we were as a couple and the tone and style of the wedding we wanted to throw... and I loved how we got the French translation in there too!

This was my very first same sex wedding as well as bilingual invitation! Using 2 languages can be really challenging as you don’t want to crowd all of your information onto the invite and you don’t want the type super tiny so your grandmother can’t read it. I have been wanting to try blind impression for some time now and realized this was the perfect way to get both english and french onto the invite without making everything look crammed. I was very sad to not be able to letterpress these myself. I was very newly pregnant and didn’t want to be around any of the fumes that accompany a print shop, not to mention the back breaking work required to (wo)man a press was out of the question.
