Why clients are opting for digital Save the Dates

For their engagement photos these two surprised their photographer with colorful ski suits! They described their wedding as a ski trip where they just happen to get married. Needless to say, I had a blast designing their save the dates. As I have been seeing a rise in incorporating digital pieces and touches into your wedding paper design I thought it would be fun to break down all the options to bring in digital without sacrificing all of the details and tactile nuances that print provides.

Some of my clients have just added a touch of digital by forgoing the reply card in their suite and directing their guests to their website where they can RSVP. This can save you by designing a smaller card and doesn’t require envelopes or return postage. Going this route also provides guests another reason to check out all of the details you have included on your website. A bigger way to incorporate digital is to create a save the date that is emailed to your guests. I know a lot of people are familiar with the Paperless Post platform and have probably used their templates for birthdays and get togethers but it’s also very customizable for Save the Dates! Not only does this save on the printing cost and the envelopes and postage but it creates a seamless experience for your guests.

This specific wedding took place in Breckenridge and there was a lot of info to give the guests such as places to stay and what to pack! By doing this piece digitally we were able to link directly to their custom website where guests could learn all the things! For this couples invitation suite it was all about the bright colors and beautiful illustrations made by Polly MacRoberts. We took the illustrations and reimagined them into a beautiful background for the save the dates. So even though the invitations were being printed on paper the aesthetic was cohesive with the digital pieces. See below for a full breakdown of everything!

I love the way this collage turned out. We combined illustrations of the brides flowers and greenery from her bouquet as well as their dog Roux and used a bright coral for the background to keep with the Wes Anderson-esque theme.

Curious to know, are you opposed to using digital save the dates or have I converted you??
